Every cookie onMESSE sets, what it is for, and how long it lasts.
onMESSE sets six first-party cookies. Two keep you signed in and protect the forms you submit. Four exist so that we can measure our own site.
There is no advertising cookie, no third-party tracker, no social-media pixel and no cross-site tracking on onMESSE. Nothing set by this site follows you to another one, and no cookie data about you is sold or shared for advertising.
Keeps your signed-in session. Encrypted and unreadable by scripts.
Strictly necessary
24 hours
Protects forms against cross-site request forgery.
A random identifier that lets us count a returning visitor as one visitor rather than several. It contains no name, email or account reference.
Measurement
2 years
Groups the pages of a single visit together. Refreshed while you browse; a visit ends after 30 minutes of inactivity.
30 minutes, rolling
Records that the cookie notice was shown and dismissed, so it stops reappearing.
A readable twin of the cookie above. The banner needs to know it was dismissed, and cannot read the encrypted one.
We would rather be plain about this than imply a choice we do not offer. The cookie notice on this site is informational: it tells you that we measure our own fairs with our own cookies, points here, and remembers that you dismissed it. It does not switch measurement on or off, and dismissing it is not treated as consent to anything.
Measurement runs on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the platform, as described in the Privacy Policy — not on consent. If you do not want to be included, you can object to that processing at privacy@onmesse.com, or block the cookies in your browser as described below.
We are working on a control that lets you turn measurement off from the notice itself. Until that ships, the two routes above are the ones that work, and this page will not claim otherwise.
Besides cookies, the site keeps a few small values in your browser’s local storage: your light or dark theme preference, whether the panel sidebar is collapsed, and — if you turned notifications on — a marker showing that this browser is already registered for them. These never leave your device except the notification registration, which is sent to us so we can deliver notifications you asked for.
Clearing your browser’s site data removes them.
Every major browser lets you see, block and delete cookies for a specific site, and to browse in a private window that discards them when you close it. The exact steps are in your browser’s help pages.
Blocking the two strictly necessary cookies will break sign-in and form submission — you can still read the public site, but you will not be able to use your account. Blocking the four measurement cookies has no effect on how the site works for you.
If we add, remove or repurpose a cookie, we update the table above and the date at the top of this page.
